Invisible Children

How it all started. In the spring of 2003, three filmmakers traveled to Africa in search of a story. That was when they discovered a tragedy that not only horrifically disturbed them but it also truly inspired and motivated them. The story that children were used as both weapons and victims. Invisible children is a non-profit Inc. that gives individuals an effective way to respond to this situation. These three young men just want to transform apathy into activism. There work includes working directly with individuals who survived and who are trying to end this after many years.

To make the difference that they needed, they took it upon themselves to hear the wisdom of the people that not only lived in the war, but were surviving it. They found that the people from Uganda are asking for a future behind the conflict. Their pleas have become these three young men's development strategy. They focus on long-term goals that enable children to take responsibility for their future and the future of their country.
The History of Uganda. From June 2006 to March 2008, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the government of Uganda engaged in a series of peace talks in order to end this conflict. These peace talks allowed for the longest period of peace in Northern Uganda's 23-year war. With every one of these everyone waited and waited for the signature of Joseph Kony. All of the reasons Kony stated for not signing or showing up vague. In the past two years, an estimated 900,000 of the 1.8 million displaced have returned to their homes. But that still leaves one million people currently living in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. With the majority wanted to return to their homes. Access to clean water, economic opportunities, health centers, and education are a pressing concern for all.
This is by far Africa's longest running war, 23 years. As the motives of the LRA become more ambiguous and their crimes more horrific, Invisible Children remains committed to seeking sustainable solutions to foster an environment that encourages peace. I believe that the high school of Bishop Kearney should all work as a team and contribute our lives and ideas to help this war come to a end.

The Westboro Baptist Church are a very large group of people who are preaching against all forms of sin and, insist that the sovereignty of God and the doctrines of grace be taught and expounded publicly to all men morally. The WBC does what they do because they truly believe that what they are preaching is what was God truly means. God only loves man and woman together, but when you mix a woman and woman or a man and an other man it is a sin that makes God turn his head from you. They primarily do this because they think it is or can be the worst sin one can do in their life time to God, our creator. Some people sadly agree with them but not most. Most people try to fight against this group. A lot of people feel like this group is the ones that are disrespecting others.

My opinion is very important to me and I hope to others too. I believe that it is none of their business to judge the living or dead. To me this is very immoral. If someone wants to spend their life with the same gender in one way or another no one should stop them. They know what they are doing, they know the consequences, but they deserve to be happy. You only live once and you never know for how long. They act like people can change who they are in s second, almost like a gift for charity. So why not live it and make it happy and full of love around you. It's very important to surround yourself with love. It’s healthy and very important. Yes the religion of Christianity does not agree with this but this religion is one religion that is supposed to accept everyone for who they are and how they live their lives. Most people have human dignity and they show it, or should!

Cyber Bullying

“With cyber bullying, you can't escape from it. Fifty-four percent of the kids who were bullied said they didn't know who was bullying them on the Internet.” by Robin Kowalski. This quote is a perfect example why people should really discontinue cyber bullying all together. Cyber Bullying is just another way for people to express their opinions. They also feel the need that being on the computer puts them on a pedestal which makes them think they can say anything and everything. Kind to nice. Nice to mean. Mean to devastating. There has been many instances that in this case someone has said something over the internet that was very hurtful that lead to another persons death. It is truly wrong, and I am not the only person to think so.
There is one, out of many, cyber bullying topics that are discussed very often. Being Gay or Bisexual. This specific topic is very sensitive. My opinion on this is that why stop someone from being happy if everyone else can be? It should not be worth peoples time to state there negative opinions in someone's head if they did not ask. They know what they are doing because they are the ones to choose that type of life style. Here is a great quote from a person that touches my heart and has touched others. "I would encourage my gay fans to be fighters and to be brave. People face difficulties, no matter who you are. I faced difficulties with a lot of things. I face opposition every day, but I didn't kill myself and now, thank God, I'm here. So I want my life to be a testimony to my fans and my gay fans...I mean I could never imagine what they're going through. But I know that suicide is never the answer and I know that things always get better. So I'm supporting you guys. I love you very, very much and for the people who don't love you, they need help." - Nicki Minaj. As for I, I completely agree with this, but for others they may not which is their choice. Everyone deserves a chance for love, and life. Don't ruin it for others, please?

Bullying

There are many types of bullying that occur. The most recent one that seems very popular is electronically bullying. People seem to think that they can bully people over texting, voice mails and even in person where they can lie there way out of it. The people being bullied are the victims. And before they get help, they usually dwell on every negative fact about them selves as possible. One of the most hurtful topics is how people look at other people and their sexuality. Even though it really is not anyone's business besides the person there selves, other people still feel the need to make their comments and thoughts known. And those hurtful and hateful comments lead to some very sad and misunderstood deaths. Just like Jamey Rodemeyer. Jamey was a 14 year old boy who lived his short life in Buffalo, NY. Personally was a friend of my families.

Jamey was such a great, loyal, sweet and caring person. Very pure. Although people notice him now, some people made him stand out unwillingly at his very own high school. Like his pop superstar role model Lady Gaga, Jamey has gone through many ups and downs but this time it sadly seemed to catch up to him. Some people wonder how he went from a video posted on YouTube, about staying positive to hating his life to the point of throwing it away. As many know one of Jamey's best friends was killed not to long ago by a car. Even though they were 3 years apart they still had a very close friendship. When she passed it was one of the many times Jamey's view on life changed. Also the time when his very own grandmother died, whom he was very close with.

As Jamey Stated before the devastating night of his death, He was looking forward to being with  his best friend and grandmother. This young boy had so many voices being forced into his head. Which lead him to start believing them. Which sadly led to a heart stopping ending. Jamey Rodemeyer had a very hateful look on life and sadly will not be in our presence any longer. But people need to grasp the point that bullying should no longer exist. Bullying is just another sad way of showing someone's insecurities. Is it really worth it? Is it really worth watching someone who did absolutely nothing to you to suffer. To suffer because you don't like the way they dress, or act, or who they hang around with? Or maybe who they seem to like. It's really sad that they will truly spend their dear time putting someone down just to make themselves feel inferior to everyone else. Well I hope everyone understands that being inferior is the last thing you should feel when you accomplished such a hateful and cruel action. Apologizing... too late. Because of you Jamey Rodemeyer will not be able to be seen as anything other than just another victim of bullying. But to me he was so much more than just that
Here are some quotes from some other students:
"Bullying comes in many forms. If it makes you uncomfortable, it's bullying. BE A BETTER PERSON!" -Courtney W
"Bullying is BAD." - Francesca O.
"Bullying is not necessary since there aren't any positives in it." - Franky D
As students of Bishop Kearney High School we all know that our school is Bully Free. Our school does not tolerate bullies of all kinds.

I strongly disagree with pirating music because one, it is illegal and also because it is considered stealing. Most people use sites like Limewire and Frostwire and so many more but those would be the two most popular. I will say that I have personally used it before but that was before I knew it was the wrong thing to do. Now I purchase my music from Itunes. I suggest to people not to illegal download music because if you get caught you can get into serious trouble and suffer serious charges.
